A Taste of France at The Falstaff The Falstaff

Knowledge and expertise of more than 140 years are at the heart of the house of Gabriel Boudier. A name that is renowned worldwide. Since its foundation in 1874, Gabriel Boudier has invented and diversified into a range of exceptional products that delight enthusiasts of crème de fruits as well as liqueurs. Gabriel Boudier is now synonymous with authentic tastes which we invite you to discover, enjoy and share with us.

Here at the Falstaff, we use a huge range of these fantastic liqueurs in some of our favourite cocktails and we want to share them with you. On the evening we’ll highlight some of the most traditional or versatile of the range, tell you all about the company, its heritage, its production methods and just what makes Maison Boudier so fantastic. Guided on this taste voyage by one of the most hospitable chaps in the drinks industry today, Gavin McGowan-Madoo who has been working with the brand for several years.

A Taste of France at The Falstaff The Falstaff

Some awesome meats and cheeses will be on hand, and we will be playing some wonderful French games throughout the evening. Emporia brands also have some fantastic spirits in their portfolio which we will be mixing up with the Boudier liqueurs.

Late A(periteavo) T at The Falstaff

Late A(periteavo) T at The Falstaff

Tuesday 8th March | 7 pm – 10 pm

BUY YOUR TICKET HERE

Join us on Tuesday 8th March from 7 pm where we’ll be celebrating two of the finest traditions, The British Afternoon Tea and the Italian Aperitivo culture in some form of Frankenstein’s Monster mash-up! Here at the Falstaff, we’re particularly proud of our Afternoon Teas and are quite partial to the odd aperitivo.

Late A(periteavo) T at The Falstaff The Falstaff

Tea drinking had been the height of sophistication in Britain since the 1660s and the taking of afternoon tea has been a great British tradition for two centuries. It is believed the credit for the custom goes to Anna Russell, the seventh Duchess of Bedford. At around 4 pm, Anna would complain of “having that sinking feeling”, but dinner would be served fashionably late at around 8 pm. So Anna started ordering a tray of tea, bread and butter, and cake to her room mid-afternoon, and then she began inviting friends to join her. When Anna moved to London, she brought the occasion with her and its popularity skyrocketed, especially with royal endorsement by her close friend, Queen Victoria. Ladies began wearing their finest clothes and tea would be served from elegant silver teapots into fine bone china cups while the ladies socialised, and Afternoon Tea was forever imprinted as an English tradition. Since then, we have never looked back.

Meanwhile, on the continent, the Italians had already been working hard on Aperitivo culture, a nicely bittered alcoholic beverage (usually some form of bittered-wine) was to be knocked back before a meal, or with many small snacks to nibble on. Derived from the Latin aperire, the tradition is meant “to open” the stomach before dining and the experience of aperitivo is now a cultural ritual in Italy.

So, on the night we will be serving the traditional components of our Afternoon Tea over 3 stages across the evening. Each serving will be paired with a fantastic Cocchi (a fantastic Italian Americano, a bit like vermouth), based drink. The guys behind the bar will be serving up some delicious concoctions as our kitchen team send out scones and sarnies galore.

Tickets are £29 per person or £24 per person for our Pilgrim cardholders

The Falstaff Hosts Ramsbury Estate

The Falstaff Hosts Ramsbury Estate

Tuesday 22nd February | 7 pm – 10 pm

BUY YOUR TICKET HERE
We’re delighted to bring you our next Pilgrims event of 2022, a go-to tasting event for both gin and vodka lovers! Join us on Tuesday 22nd February from 7 pm as we host an evening with Ramsbury Estate, producers of award-winning gin and vodka, homegrown in Wiltshire.

The Falstaff Hosts Ramsbury Estate The Falstaff

Ramsbury Estate is located in North-East Wiltshire, West Berkshire & North Hampshire. The farms are centred around the village of Ramsbury in the heart of the Kennet Valley. In 1997 the estate spanned 3000 acres, but over the years, through the accumulation of neighbouring estates, it now spans over 19 000 acres. Not only do they produce a variety of products, but they are eco-friendly too – their operations work hand-in-hand to get the most out of their land and have minimal impact on the environment around them.

They make Gin & Vodka, they brew beer, traditionally rear Beef, make Rapeseed oil & honey and try to operate a fully closed-loop process…or what distillers call a ‘single estate’ meaning that the whole process of its creation, from field to bottle, takes place on one location. It is this minimal waste process that allows them to proudly boast the highest of eco-credentials.

The Falstaff Hosts Ramsbury Estate The Falstaff

We will be focusing on their Single Estate Vodka and Single Estate Gin (we’ve been promised they will also bring down some super special distillery only releases for us), which was awarded a Gold Medal by the Beverage Tasting Institute.

Our bar team will be putting together some lovely Gin & Vodka based classic cocktails for the evening for you all to enjoy.
There will be some fun and games as usual on the night and there may also be some prizes.

Tickets are £25 per person or £20 per person for our Pilgrim cardholders

Cain vs Grain Evening!

Cane versus Grain Evening
Whisky or Rum? You Decide!

Thursday 20th January 2022  | 7 pm – 10 pm

BUY YOUR TICKET HERE
Our first event of the year will be a fantastic little warmer to brush off any festive sluggishness. We have an evening of competition ahead of us on the 20th of January as we put Whisk(e)y and Rum against each other (we know there are no real losers here).

Cain vs Grain Evening! The Falstaff

In association with our best pals over at Speciality Brands, we will be enlisting your help to see who the king is in ‘Cane vs Grain’, as you get to vote for your favourites as we watch the competition of the year (maybe). Two industry legends, Nathan Shearer & Dean Macgregor will be taking the stage to each try and convince you that their respective spirit fields (Whiskey & Rum) are truly the king.

We’ll start the evening off respectfully with a nice split-base, Whiskey & Rum punch from our team. After that, the gloves are off as the guys from Speciality will get down and dirty to secure your backing for the winner’s trophy. Each rep will get three chances to feed you some of their favourite rum or whiskey, (don’t worry, we’ll break the evening up with a couple of cocktails our bar team love) before a final ‘Cock-off’ as they get to serve you some classic cocktails showcasing their spirits that you get to judge. We’re not sure what the prize (or forfeit) is yet for them, but we’ll certainly make it good, on the subject of prizes we might be able to convince Santa to leave us a little something (it’s going to be Whiskey or Rum…) for a competition for you all as well.

Cain vs Grain Evening! The Falstaff

So if you’re a fan of Whiskey or Rum (or know one), this is definitely the event to make, as these guys will need your support for the night in this multi-staged battle of the ages.

We’re still waiting for the guys to name their line-ups for the night, but rest assured, there should be some incredible spirits here to taste on the night and we will start name dropping closer to the date to keep you in the loop.

Tickets are £30 per person (£25 per person for our Falstaff Pilgrims)
