The Falstaff in Canterbury

October 2014 newsletter

Dear Falstaffians

We hope you’ve had a wonderful summer! We’ve had a busy few months here in Canterbury culminating in the Canterbury Food & Drink festival over the last weekend of September. The three-day event, which takes place in the nearby Dane John Gardens, marks the change of seasons and celebrates all that is Kentish with 150 mouth-watering produce stalls lining the ancient city walls, as well as music, street entertainment and family workshops. If you missed it this time make sure you catch it next year!

As the nights start drawing in there is still plenty to look forward to … Canterbury Arts Festival, the largest festival of Arts and Culture in the region, kicks off on 18th October for a fortnight. With over 200 free and ticketed events including music, theatre and dance, comedy, science, exhibitions and walks and talks the festival is one of the most important events in the South-East. There’s a concert by the Russian State Philharmonic Orchestra, a play starring Simon Callow as ‘The Man Jesus’ (both at the Marlowe Theatre) and the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize (at the Beaney House of Art & Knowledge) to name but a few of the exciting events. Please click here to view the full programme or to book tickets. Rooms at the Falstaff over the festival period start at just £79.00 per night for a double room.

Planning further ahead, if you’re looking at festivities around Christmas, the annual pantomime returns to the Marlowe on 28th November. Aladdin features an all-star cast, including Scott Maslen (EastEnders) as Abanazar, Cbeebies’ Mister Maker Phil Gallagher (Wishee Washee), everyone’s favourite dame Ben Roddy (Widow Twankey). Tickets can be booked by following this link. The Falstaff is open throughout the Christmas period.

Finally, we’re pleased to say that we have recently joined Instagram – we’d be delighted to see any photos you have taken of the hotel or the local area. If you haven’t already joined us on Facebook or Twitter please click on the links to follow us, we’re always happy to hear from you!

We hope to see you in Canterbury soon.

With very best wishes,
The Team at The Falstaff.
