June 2012 newsletter

Dear Falstaffians,

Here at the hotel, we are licking our lips in anticipation, as one of the county’s best food festivals arrives in just a few weeks.

If you are a lover of crustaceans or food in general, you simply must make a trip down to Whitstable for its oyster-fest, running in the first week of the school summer holidays (21st-27th July). Lots of events are going on, but the biggie will be the Food Epicentre, when the harbour will host 60 small food suppliers for tastings and street food.

And if you come on the 21st, you can also hop down (yes, a dreadful pun) to the Kent Beer Festival from CAMRA, at which a whopping 120 beers and ciders will be available, alongside entertainment in the form of archery, string quartets, jive dancing and even a ‘pintathlon’ competition: sounds dangerous.

We are also charmed by Cherry Day, which is being hosted at the beautiful Mount Ephraim Gardens near Faversham on Sunday 1st July. We’re hoping to go along to their trailer tours of the orchards, and to sample some of the family’s cherry-based recipes in the tea room. It’s well worth investigating the garden’s other events; this summer there will be outdoor productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and The Importance of Being Earnest.

If you need a liedown after all that imbibing, then one of our comfortable bedrooms rooms should suit, with rates starting at only £60 per night for a single or £100 for a double. Have a look at the room types online, and do drop a line to reception if you’d like to explore dates and to make a booking. Summer is very busy so be quick if you want to come in the holidays!

With Very Best Wishes,

The Team at The Falstaff
