Canterbury Festival

Kent's International Arts Festival is held over a fortnight every October and features classical and world music, comedy, theatre & dance, talks, walks, exhibition, film and family events at different venues across Canterbury.
The 2009 festival takes place 17-31 October.

Classical events include Festival Evensong at the Cathedral, an organ recital by D'Arcy Trinkwon, the City of Canterbury Chamber Choir, a concert performance of Henry Purcell's The Fairy Queen and the St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra.

World Music artists include Cara Dillon "one of Ireland's great singers", Abram Wilson (regarded as one of the finest contemporary New Orleans trumpeters), African Band Chimanimani and Karbido's "The Table" - where four men sit around a wooden table and turn it into a multi-faceted musical instrument.

Talks include Charley Boorman on his travels "the long way round" and the "long way down", author Dame Joan Bakewell and actress Leslie Caron.
